Solutionworx was engaged to work with Qantas in developing its NGCI concept, including infrastructure and technology requirements.

Solutionworx conceived the Q Bag Tag concept and managed the Research and Development (R&D) of Qantas’ Automated Bag Drops (ABDs), Kiosk Service points and Weigh Scales, it conceived and/or decided the technical solutions. Ongoing services included port infrastructure layouts confirmed with simulations, developing the national infrastructure procurement framework and delivery of the solution.

The ABD was pivotal to the success of Qantas' NGCI programme. From initiation to concept, mock-ups, prototypes and then production units was a 12 month programme. The rapid ABD R&D required, combined with Qantas relying on the solution as critical passenger processing infrastructure, was a key challenge.
